Clovis High to honor alumni

The Clovis Municipal Schools Foundation and Alumni Committee will honor six Clovis High School graduates whose achievements inspire and challenge today’s students 6 p.m. April 14 at the Clovis Civic Center, according to a news release from the Clovis Municipal Schools Office.

According to the news release:

• The foundation will also honor former faculty members and other individuals who have provided outstanding service to Clovis Municipal Schools in the 2012 Hall of Honor Banquet. The event is open to the public. Tickets are available at Clovis Schools Administration Office. Individual tickets are $35 and tables of eight are $250.

The 2012 CMS Foundation and Alumni Hall of Honor inductees are:

Business and industry

• Jack Elton Bresenham, 1955 CHS Graduate

Bresenham’s line algorithm is his best known innovation. It is one of the earliest algorithms discovered in the field of computer graphics.

• Kendra Merritt Doyel, 1989 CHS graduate

Doyel is group vice president of marketing and public relations for Ralph’s Grocery Company and Food4Less.

Government and service

• Judge Robert C. Brack, 1971 CHS graduate

Brack worked in private practice for 19 years and was appointed in 1997 as district court judge of the 9th Judicial District Court in Clovis. In 2003, former president George W. Bush nominated Brack to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

Sports and entertainment

• Jana Stanfield, 1976 CHS graduate

Stanfield is a songwriter, singer and motivational speaker. She owns a record company and motivational speaking business. Stanfield has recorded several CD’s and has performed at Carnegie Hall.

Top cat award

• Norman Vohs, 1936 CHS graduate (awarded posthumously)

Vohs spent more than sixty years supporting Clovis athletic teams. He was known as “Mr. Wildcat.”

• Tom and Gail Martin

The Martins invested in the Taco Box franchise after moving to Clovis in the early 1970s. They are known for their active support of the Clovis schools and the community.
